I am a scientist and communicator

WELCOME

Have you wondered– about the world around you?

I’m fortunate to say that is my job. I’m an imaging scientist at the University of Calgary. I’ve done science on 4 continents and at some fantastic places including Oxford University, St. Andrews University and Dartmouth Collage. I run the Experimental Imaging Centre at the U of C.

Wonder what the header is?

It is an MRI of a mouse brain, imaged at a very high magnetic field (9.4 Tesla), showing parts of the  top of the brain (cortex and hippocampus). We often image mice to study how the brain works. A key point is the resolution of 37.5 x 37.5 x 250µm per point. Thanks to Max Hamilton, one of my students, for producing this image.

My blogs and blog groupings show as links on the side, or at the bottom if you are on a mobile device.

  1. Hello! Would you mind if I share your blog with my myspace group?
There’s a lot of people that I think would really appreciate your content.
    Please let me know. Thanks

  2. I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills as well as
with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself?
Either way keep up the excellent quality writing, it is rare to see a nice blog like this one today.
